I recommend Craftsman M230. It works well.

Our self propelled push mower hasn’t been started since August 2018...mainly because we haven't had a grassy patch around a house we live in worth mowing with it...

We had our old mower for ~15 years before the engine seized up yesterday, because apparently, when they tell you you don’t need to change the oil THEY LIE. So we got a new mower. It does everything the old one did, except better. And it’s red!

2 mowers? A ride- on and a push mower, I’m guessing?

I’ve mowed my patch of weeds twice! TWICE!! The second time was purely boredom.
(I just have a small battery mower)

Our trusty old Honda failed a while ago so we bought the cheapest Costco has to offer. There is a very old self propelled mower as a backup (it usually just smokes and doesn’t self propel) on its third engine and then the free dual blade John Deer ride on that is entirely inappropriate for the yard that replaced the free single blade Snapped ride on that was somewhat inappropriate for the yard. W e’ve got mowing covered. I thought the new Costco mower worked pretty well but the plastic bits are already breaking and wearing out.

Our lawn mower is older than us, approaching 40 years soon enough! It’s bare- bones and runs like a champ

It was my dad who bo ught the mower and did all the maintenance and whatnot. He asked everyone he knew whether you needed to change the oil, and they all told him “I’ve never changed the o il in my mower”. When the engine seized 15 years later, I told my dad that a mower engine is no different from any other internal combustion engine, and therefore needs an oil change periodically. But by then, it was too late to save the mower, so we got a new one yesterday. The new one says it doesn’t need oil changes, but I don’t believe that for one second.

Yeah, the plastic bits were the biggest problem with our old mower. The gas tank leaked like mad if you filled it all the way or tilted it slightly. It’s probably responsible for a few bare patches in o ur yard...

Every time I get to that point, I find some other chore to do. I just don't care about how my lawn looks and nobody is coming over. But I guess I might have a fire and barbecue soon.

Every year I change the oil and air filter on my Honda mower. Spark plugs every other. Last summer it was underwater, literally, in a flood. Still starts with a single pull.

We created quite a few bare patches in the last few weeks tearing out scrub trees with the truck. Wheelspin yo.
Another sure way to create bare patches is to pour lots of paint on the grass and just leave it for a year. Don’t ask.
Can confirm: mowers leak gas when tipped over. A slight tip spill just seems like a broken cap or seal.

The rest of the lawn chores end in pain - the mower is effortless and tricks the neighbors into thinking I care.

Lol those are my thoughts exactly. I just mowed so I've got at least a week until I have to appease the judgemental old people again.
